1999-Present

Ground breaking for new Mt. Juliet High School - May 2006

Watertown Elementary - (in progress, ground breaking May 2006)

Successful in securing the Nashville Superspeedway and the construction of SR 452 between 231 South and I-840.

New jail addition completed Spring 2007 - 3 new pods (300 beds). Renovations to existing kitchen planned for with funding budgeted.

JECDB (Joint Economic Community Development Board) responsible for the recruitment of numerous industry and businesses, bringing jobs and revenue to the county - most recently - Bridgestone/Firestone, ALDI, Inc., TACLE Seating USA, LLC just to name a few. Recently over 400 acres being newly developed for industrial use. Info taken from JECDB 2005 Growth Report. Mr. Dedman serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the JECDB.

• A new facility for the Wilson County Schools Central Office was built.
• Wilson Central High School built.
• New Mt. Juliet Elementary built.
• Additions made to the following county schools:
  • Tuckers Crossroads
  • Mt. Juliet High
  • Mt. Juliet Annex
  • Lakeview Elementary
• Purchased facility to house the Adult Education Program.

Constructed a new building for the Wilson County Health Department with addition added to house dental department.

• Constructed new addition to Mt. Juliet and Lebanon libraries.
• Secured an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Lebanon to purchase additional capacity for the county in sewer extension along the I-840 corridor for future industrial expansion.
• Passage of Urban Growth Plan - state law Public Chapter 1101-20 year growth plan for cities and county. Failure to pass would have made cities and county ineligible for some state and federal monies and grants.
• County web page created and maintained by County Mayor’s Office.

College Street Church Property purchased & renovated for Courts and supporting offices.

• Renovation at Wilson County Courthouse - Commission Room - electronic voting system, renovations provided additional office space.
• New Criminal & General Sessions Courtrooms & supporting offices under construction.
• Purchase of additional tanker trucks for Wilson Emergency Management Agency. Replacement ambulances.
• Fire station built in Statesville Community - equipped volunteer fire station.
• Approved new Fire Station in the Tucker's Cross Roads area, with donated land. (June 2006)
• Over 250 miles of county roads resurfaced from 1999 to present.
• New office building constructed for Wilson County Road Commission.
• County Animal Control facility built. (temporarily house stray/running at large dogs and cats)
• Music City Star, Tennessee’s first commuter rail service, began operation second half of 2006. Millions of dollars of improvements to existing rail lines. Project made possible through federal funding with state and local (cities & county) sharing portion of funding.
• Purchased Nave Funeral Home on Main Street in Lebanon, adjacent to Courthouse, in late 2006 for future expansion.
