We do not have regularly
scheduled sales. Rather the delinquent tax attorney sets the auction
when he has several parcels for sale. He anticipates approximately
one sale a year in the future.
The sales are advertised
in the four Friday editions of the Wilson Post newspaper
occurring immediately before the sale date, which is always on a
Saturday.
Payment in full is
required on the day of sale. We do not have a financing program.
Upon buying a piece of
property, the purchaser is given a certified copy of an Order
confirming Sale which can then be registered in the Register of
Deeds Office as evidence of title.
If the property is
subsequently redeemed, the purchaser will receive interest at the
annual rate of 10%.
We do not have an
absentee bidding procedure.
Properties, which do not
sell at the auction, are titled to the county, which will resell the
property without a minimum bid after expiration of the redemption
period.
The county presently does
not have any parcels for resale with the technical exception of one,
which is believed to be a result of a mistaken survey description
and is not believed to actually exist.
We maintain a mailing
list of people interested in our sales.
All prospective buyers are
encouraged to thoroughly read and understand the state statutes and
prior cases, which govern this matter.
